Who do we help ?

  Joanna is 15 years old girl who comes from Little Village near Nowy Sacz (region Cracow). She is sensitive, openminded, happy and positive to life and others teenager. At school she had always good marks and also achieved many successes in other type of activities as music courses (she played violin), regional literary competitions. Just like all of us she had dreams and purposes wchich she wantes to achieve in her life.

   10^th september 2011 she had a terrible accident. Joanna was biking at pavement when she crashed with a car, driven by drunk man. Girl was taken by ambulance to the nearest hospital where she was fighting for life during next days. She had extensive brain and trunk swelling, 1cm haematoma and head injury. For the next 1,5 week she spent at intensive therapy department where she was supported by specialistic medical equipment. Then she was transported to specialistic childrens hospital in Prokocim, Cracow. Two weeks after she started to breath alone and opened her eyes but till now we dont have any contact with Joanna.

   Doctors do what they can to help her come back to normality. She is fed by peg (directly to stomach), regularly she has made specialistic examinations like thomography. Because of brain demage she needs to take strong medicines to recover her consciusness and to reduce naurological strains wchich also has an influance on her body. She reacts for light and other impulses like sound. Sometimes also she moves her body but because of cross paralysis, specific for that kind of brain injury, it's hard to say if that moves are intentional.

A message from the Association

    Now Joanna stays at home where her mom is always present, what for sure helps with recovery. Expensive, long, regular and specialistic rehabilitation is necessary to help her come back to normality. One hour of specialistic therapy costs about 60 PLN. If we will multiply, it by few hours per day during 7 days we recieve huge amount. Parents aren't able to give such money and more than that they have three more children.

    All people warmhearted can help. Together we can give to Joanna possibility to realise her dreams. Could we count also for you?
